Rescue of Chibok girls: disagreement b/w Jonathan and military chiefs

President Goodluck Jonathan and Nigeria's military chiefs have split on the mondus operandi for the rescue of the abducted school girls.
According to a report by the Associated Press, the already harassed military is opting for a softer approach of negotiated release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Islamic extremists, but Jonathan has ruled out a prisoner-hostage swap.
The defence chief, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, announced Monday night that the military has located the girls, but offered no details or a way forward. 'We can't go and kill our girls in the name of trying to get them back,' he said.

Boko Haram kidnaps two prominent Emirs in Borno state

According to breaking news report by Premium Times, Boko Haram men this morning kidnapped 2 first class traditional rulers in Borno State - the Emir of Uba, Ismaila Mamza and the Emir of Gwoza, Idrisa Timta.

According to security officials who spoke with Premium Times, the emirs were seized by the gunmen around 10a.m today Friday May 30th near Shaffa while they were traveling to Gombe to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar, who died on Tuesday May 27th. (pictured above)

The Borno state government is yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.

How Ladoja's son met his untimely death

A former Governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja, on Thursday lost one of his sons in an auto crash on the Eko Bridge in Lagos.

The deceased, identified as Adebola Ladoja, was driving a Golf saloon car, marked, AKD 107 CJ, and was said to be on his way to Lagos Island when a Daf truck, with number plate, JJJ 59 XA, driven by one Justice Oseghai, rammed into his car on the Eko Bridge.

An eyewitness said the driver of the Daf truck, who was on top speed, lost control of his vehicle, rammed into the median of the bridge, before he eventually crashed into the deceased’s car.

He said, “It took several hours before the victim could be rescued from the wreckage of the vehicle. He was trapped behind the wheels with blood gushing out of his head.”
